Beliefs
Community Church is mixed bag of people from all backgrounds. We hold true to ancient Christian doctrine. We are on a journey to find truth and we encourage you to join the journey with us. Below are some of the beliefs that we hold dear.
JESUS
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus is true God and true man. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He died upon the cross, the Just for the unjust, as a substitutionary sacrifice. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven's glory and will return again to earth to establish his physical kingdom where he will reign as Leader and Lord.
Matthew 1:22-23 Isaiah 9:6 John 1:1-5; 14:10-30 Hebrews 4:14-15 I Corinthians 15:3-4 Romans 1:3-4 Acts 1:9-11 I Timothy 6:14-15 Titus 2:13
THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. The Holy Spirit is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit also lives in every Christian from the moment of faith in Christ. The Holy Spirit provides power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to continually be filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit in order to grow in Christ-like character, and be empowered for serving and loving others.
II Corinthians 3:17 John 16:7-14; 14:16-17 Acts 1:8, Acts 2:4, 1 Corinthians 2:12; 3:16 Ephesians 1:13 Galatians 5:25 Ephesians 5:18, Acts 5:3,4
TRINITY
God is the loving Creator of all that exists, both seen and unseen. God has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. God is eternal and completely good, knowing all things, having all power and majesty. God passionately desires relationship with us and towards this end continually invites us into a relationship of faith, worship, friendship, learning, and service.
Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22 Psalm 90:2 Matthew 28:19 I Peter 1:2 II Corinthians 13:14.
SALVATION
Salvation is a gift from God to humanity. People can never make up for their sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can people be saved from sin's penalty. A promise of life eternally with Christ begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his or her life by faith.
Romans 6:23 Ephesians 2:8-9 John 14:6; 1:12 Titus 3:5 Galatians 3:26 Romans 5:1
THE BIBLE
The Bible is God's Word to all humanity. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Bible does not simply contain the Word of God, but is, in reality, the complete revelation and very Word of God inspired by the Holy Spirit It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. It's a moral and spiritual compass because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error.
2 Timothy 3:16, Matthew 5:17,18 2 Peter 1:20-21, 2 Timothy 1:13, Psalm 119:160, Proverbs 30:5
HUMANITY
Humanity is made equally all in the spiritual image of God. They are the supreme object of God's creation and have been created for a purpose. Although men and women have tremendous potential for good, they are marred by disobedience toward God called "sin." Sin separates people from God. God has made a way to repair this relationship and humanities sin problem through Jesus.
